A few years ago I stumbled across this image of a spectacular driveway, dark grey granite blocks elegantly curving upwards with a set of gently rising steps at its side, I was memorised, quite literally.
With the introduction of the eminently capable Google Image Search I recently uploaded the photograph and to my surprise, it found it - Aatrial House in Poland.
Designed by Architect Robert Konieczny at KWK Promes the private residence was built back in 2003. The driveway itself just happens to be the central artery of the building which leads directly to its core. The home has been designed so that it maximises access to the surrounding landscape yet remains closed to the inside.
This is definitely one for the ‘must build one day’ file, proving that exceptional architecture excites on so many levels.
