Or is there just a common bond, something you both share a passion for?
It’s unseasonably hot here today, 32 degrees with a beautiful Autumn freshness, too nice to stay at work, so a relaxing drive out to pick up some fresh bread, cheese and fruit and go sit at the edge of a forest – perfect.
Except when you’re in a SAAB, you instantly become a magnet for other SAAB drivers, and no sooner had I parked, found a lovely spot to chill and taken my first bite of bread, another SAAB 9-3 pulled up, a lovely gentleman hopped out and started asking about the Hirsch duel exhaust on my 9-3.
A good 20 minute conversation ensued; he’d owned SAAB’s for the past 20 or so years, starting with a 99, a 900 Turbo and then seemed to have worked his way through the entire SAAB family tree. He is currently driving a beautiful 2005 9-3 Aero in black.
In a very roundabout way, he was asking my opinion as to whether he should trade his older 9-3 in for a new 9-3 or spend some money on a few special Hirsch goodies? A seriously hard question to answer, although by the time he parted, he seemed extremely excited about a new Carbon Grey saloon with the Hirsch duel exhaust, 18″ Hirsch alloys and a 4 piece front grille, I hope I meet him again sometime.
In answer to my own question, I think SAAB people are both friendly and likeminded, and i’m proud to be one of them.
