The Saab Light Fantastic

It’s been a few days since I last managed to add anything, but within that time, Autumn has arrived here in the UK, and the evenings are drawing in fast. By the time I leave work, dusk is already greeting me, it’s not all altogether bad though, I get to admire the 9-3’s exceptional design in a different light.

When nature’s light dims, automotive lights take over, and few are as beautiful as the latest Saab’s. The Saab 9-3 features impeccably designed headlights with a highly individual look, spotting them coming toward me, puts a smile on my face every time.

Distinctive and stylish, the elegant light strip highlights the edge of the Saab’s bonnet, and when darkness really sets in, the perfect circular eyes send powerful beams out into the night.

Occasionally, I’ll be rewarded with a lesser spotted new generation 9-5; they too have the distinctive Saab light fantastic, so next time you see one, look in your rear view mirror as it passes – the beautiful, narrow strip of red light reassures you that Saab really did get it right, in design terms at least.

  1. I love my Saab lights……so much so that whenever I pass it on my numerous dog walks,i can’t help but press the – button on the remote and watch the led strip lights, number plate and interior lights glow beautifully in the night…….

  2. That is a gorgeous light. What model/year is it? It doesnt look anything like the xenons on my 08 cabrio

    • They’re on my 2011 9-3 TTiD, just driven back from London in the pouring rain, nearly 100 miles later, and not only do they look fantastic, they really are superb quality too. Min you, what else would we expect from Saab, form and function.

  3. I can confirm that the light of both 9-3 and ng9-5 is not only good looking. The light is really really good.
I had an 08 TTiD with bixenon lights. The best light I’ve ever experiensed at that time, and I do drive a lot of other brands in my work.

2 years ago I upgraded to a ng9-5 and the light was even better. I do miss those lights when driving rentals at work.

The rentals usually is audis, vw passat, fords and occational volvos. Only volvo is good, but not as good as the 9-3 or 9-5!

    Thank you you good trolls!

  4. Any idea what it takes to turn-on/activate the LED strips on a no-Aero T6 2011 9-5 model? I heard that there is a part missing, and I believ that’s the case, the headlights seems to be similar in Aero as well as non-Aero models. hard to imagine that in non-Aero the LED is not present in the headlight assembly…any ideas?

    • Hi, thanks so much for the great comments. Away for a few weeks, so posts thin on the ground, but will be Saab spotting over in Icland and Canada so hoping for some new, exciting stuff to photograph and scribble about when I return.

  6. Heya! I know this is somewhat off-topic but I needed to ask.
Does managing a well-established website such as yours take a large amount of work?
I am completely new to blogging but I do write in my journal on a daily basis.
I’d like to start a blog so I can easily share my own experience and feelings
online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for new aspiring blog owners.
    Appreciate it!
