Saab vs Scepticism Archives Part Two. Saab 9-5 SportCombi

So, scanning through my Saab photo archives yet again, it’s the turn of the gorgeous Saab 9-5 SportCombi.

Unlike the 9-3 Aero Convertibles featured in The Archives Part One, I’ve never owned one of these; always choosing the saloon version instead, that’s not to say I like it any less, in fact I think it’s an absolutely gorgeous Saab.

I tried to persuade my lovely wife that one of these would be better for her than her current 9-3 SportCombi, but I think she saw right through me, and instantly realised I was the one who wanted it, not her.

This is a small collection of some of the best I’ve ever seen, the later model black SportCombi just looks stunning, and those wheels! Again, I had to feature a Saab marketing image, and the one below has had me lusting after it a number of times in the past.

Which model shall I feature next? the classic 900, the original 9-3, or maybe I should honour my own choice and showcase some of the stunning 9-3 saloon photos I collected. Part 3 coming soon.

  1. I would vote for the classic 900. The SPG is my favorite SAAB of all time!!! Those 9-5 SportCombi’s are very nice though.

    • Agreed, I’ve collected 200+ images of the classic 900, so will be easy to pick out my personal favourites.

Downside is, every time I look at these sets, I start thinking “hum, one of those would be nice” Stop!

  2. Love the 95 sportwagon…it always looks absolutely spot on and I’m sure the big plush seats are extremely comfortable too!

The turbo x wheels look very smart….
