Absence makes the heart grow fonder

A few weeks ago I added a 900 convertible to our Saab collection, and have been thoroughly enjoying a bit of relaxed driving. Unfortunately, I can only drive one Saab at a time and have rather neglected my 9-3, so yesterday, instead of picking up the keys for the 900, I hopped into the 9-3.

It felt like a real privilege, as though I was driving it again for the first time, if felt fast too, surprisingly so, it soon put a huge smile on my face as the low burble of the Hirsch exhaust kicked in, seamless acceleration and impeccable handling as mile after mile melted away.

It needs a clean but as I stood and admired the 9-3, it made me realise just how special this car is, absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

  1. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…. MY GOD, your car is so good looking. I would copy your car exactly if I could. TTIDs are a rarity in Australia, rarer still in the right colour, non-existent with Hirsch bits attached.

Congratulations, and excellent photos too, Mike.

  2. Such a good design, it hasn’t dated a bit. The side profile of this car is spot-on. Everything works.
