An exceptionally rare colour combination here in the UK, the wonderful Graphite Green Metallic paintwork is paired with a luxurious Sand leather interior and dark wood dashboard. This has to be one of my favourite combinations, and one of the reasons I wanted to save this Saab Aero.

The full story of this year long rescue can be read through various posts here, but needless to say, it hasn’t been a simple mission. Originally discovered at a dismantlers, it was being sold as spares or repair, after investigation, it turned out it had obviously been a very cherished 95 Aero, but for some reason, had found itself sold for scrap, with no paperwork, manuals or log book to give any clues of its past life. After a thorough HPI check which was all clear, it was purchased and transported to my Saab specials.

We recommissioned it and give it a mechanical overhaul, but after a few hundred miles, it became clear why it might have been sold for spares; an oil pressure warning light came on at low rpm, and soon turned in to a symphony of tapping, sadly rendering the engine beyond repair.

Besides now having a new bottom end engine replacement, it has benefitted from numerous modifications and enhancements to make it a nicely sorted 95 Aero ready for a brighter future.

With its upgraded suspension and brakes, new Michelin tyres and stage 3 modified engine, it drives and handles beautifully, whilst still remaining a hugely comfortable Saab. This is a ULEZ compliant Saab Aero saloon which oozes individuality, they’re getting incredibly rare to find now, especially with low milage, and this one benefits from its unusual colour and stylish specifications.

To finish off nicely, Top Gear recently bestowed this praise on the early 95 Aero:

“The 9-5 Aero may have had the greatest driver focused, button filled interior of all time. It also looked fantastic, was hugely reliable and could do 0–62mph in under 7.0 seconds. All the car you would ever need?”
